Mala Ait Ouaouzguit Kilim

£1,250.00

A contemporary Ait Ouaouzguit Kilim (Hanbel) wool rug, flat woven and handwoven with a striking modern tribal design. One third of the rug showcases an oversized repeat pattern of irregular rolling waves, while the remaining two thirds feature a similar wave motif with thinner bands of red, orange, and blackish blue. A sophisticated piece of contemporary Berber weaving that merges traditional craftsmanship with bold, modern aesthetics.

Originating from the Ait Ouaouzguit tribal region in the Siroua mountain range (south-west of Ouarzazate, High Atlas, Southern Morocco), this rug is made by Berber women using wool from the indigenous Siroua sheep, renowned for its smooth, long fleece in pure white or black.

Handwoven using traditional artisan knotting techniques, this rug is durable, high-quality, and designed to last for decades.
