Orion Beni Ouarain

A rare and exceptional 1930s Beni Ouarain, this is the oldest vintage piece currently available in our collection. Handwoven by skilled Berber tribeswomen from premium, undyed natural sheep’s wool, this rug exudes heritage and authenticity. Its dense, substantial pile is thick and heavy yet maintains a refined, non-shaggy texture. The intricate, repeating pattern combines small diamonds, wavy zigzags, and larger diamonds — some accented with delicate orange flecks, a highly unusual feature for this era. Originally created for the weaver’s domestic use, the rug reflects the meticulous craftsmanship and cultural storytelling of the time.

A genuine collector’s piece, this antique Beni Ouarain is in excellent condition for its age. Minor wear at the tasseled ends adds character and emphasizes its rich history.
